Team Leader

COSTI REQUIRES A TEAM LEADER FOR ITS
REFUGEE EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM IN THE GREATER TORONTO AREA

Duties:

  • Provides guidance, advice and support to the program’s staff, assists with overseeing day-to-day operations.
  • Provides client direct service and carries a small case load and covers for anticipated and unanticipated staff absences delivering workshops as needed
  • Coordinates, schedules and assists with intake, assessment, delivery of client services and workshops and support of clients as required.
  • Conducts outreach activities and presentations to local OW offices and the community to ensure program targets are met
  • Coordinates delivery of employment services to vulnerable newcomers and refugee job seekers and supports employers interested in hiring refugees in the community.
  • Plans and schedules the delivery of various pre-employment workshops including, information in regulatory processes, sector specific workshops and workplace expectations for unemployed/underemployed vulnerable newcomer and refugee professionals.
  • Engages guest speakers and assists in the planning and holding of job fairs and other Centre activities such as employer networking events, mentoring, and related employment-training events.
  • Develops employment workshops specific to vulnerable newcomers and refugees including Internationally Educated Professional (IEPs) using existing COSTI curriculum
  • Develops employer contacts to create job opportunities for participants accessing programs and services.
  • Develops and maintains positive and productive relations with other centres and community partners.
  • Collaborates with other service providers in the community to deliver seamless services to clients and employers

  • Supports marketing and outreach activities to promote programs and services to job seekers and employers.
  • Ensures that placements are appropriate and meet employer, participant and program expectations.
  • Liaises with program partners and refers clients to appropriate services in the community such as short-term skills training, EO/Employment Services, Mentoring, Mental and other Health supports, etc. as required.
  • Handles client complaints in consultation with centre staff, supervisor and completes file documentation. Sup.
  • Supports staff in planning and meeting program targets.
  • Reviews and monitors program files to ensure that appropriate documentation, which meets quality standards, are maintained, prior to file closures.
  • Conducts file audits through manual matching of client information on monthly and/or as needed basis.
  • Identifies errors and implements solutions. Monitors and cross checks accuracy of data in tracking systems (Excel & COSTI Information System).
  • Prepares regular monthly, quarterly and annual statistical and narrative reports and maintains records.
  • Qualifications:

  • Social Service Worker Diploma or equivalent with relevant practicum experience.
  • A minimum of one (1) years of experience in job development for vulnerable newcomers, refugees, successfully placing individuals within their professions and/or chosen career path.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in group facilitation and employment counselling experience, specifically with vulnerable Newcomers and/or refugees on OW.
  • Food Prep and/or Customer Service Excellence Trainer Certification
  • Strong coordination, organizational and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment providing coaching, guidance and support.
  • Proficiency in the use of Internet, Email, and MS Office Suite is an asset.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Resourceful and flexible individual with experience in dealing with employers and assessing employer needs.
  • Verbal and written fluency in English. The ability to speak any other language would be an asset.
  • Required to travel to employer sites throughout the GTA, access to a reliable vehicle is necessary.
  • Must be available to work variable hours occasionally, depending on Centre activities and events.

    $47,651 to $51,287 per annum + benefits
