Computer Instructor

COSTI REQUIRES A COMPUTER INSTRUCTOR - MS OFFICE SUITE FOR ITS ENHANCED LANGUAGE TRAINING (ELT) PROGRAM IN YORK REGION

This is a part time non-Union contract position scheduled to work 6 hours each Saturday for 11 classes each cycle
** Saturday classes will take place on the weekday on these dates due to room scheduling: Sept 21, Dec 19, 2018, Feb 14 and March 21, 2019

Duties:

  • Designs, implements and instructs a 66-hour modular course for MS Office Suite: WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, ACCESS, OUTLOOK and PUBLISHER
  • Conducts a needs assessment at the beginning of the program
  • Designs and plans lessons based on learners needs and skill level in support of the overall ELT curriculum for Internationally Trained Professionals in Teaching and Education
  • Delivers a variety of course curriculum exercises for different levels of ability relevant to the Teaching and Education sector
  • Conducts evaluation feedback surveys for curriculum and delivery and make recommendations for change
  • Prepares course materials and handouts for learners
  • Monitors and documents learners participation and progress

    Qualifications:

  • A minimum of (1) one year experience providing adult instruction in the required MS Office software
  • Knowledge of the Teaching and Education sector
  • Adult education or other teaching certification an asset
  • Microsoft Office software trainer certification an asset
  • Able to deliver instruction through lectures, demonstrations and hands-on exercises
  • Able to adapt teaching methodology to the needs/skill level of individual learners
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment

    		 September 8, 2018 to September 21, 2018
    October 13, 2018 to December 19, 2018
    January 12, 2019 to March 21, 2019

    Starting Salary Range:

    		 $28 - $33 per hour

    Notes:

    		 The ELT program combines advanced level workplace language training (Canadian Language Benchmark Levels 6+) with employment preparation and job placement for Internationally Trained Professionals (ITP’s). This program has a computer training component, which helps participants refresh and upgrade their skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications at work in preparation for job placements.

    Priority consideration will be given to those on Notice of Recall.
