Payroll Administrator

COSTI REQUIRES A PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR FOR THE HEAD OFFICE

This is a fulltime non-union position scheduled to work 35 hours per week.
(Monday – Friday)

Duties:

  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate that employees are paid in accordance to employment contracts and are charged to proper GL accounts and proper dimension combinations.
  • Responsible for setting up payroll details, including pay controls, rates, tax authority information and other authority information in Microsoft Dynamics NAV payroll system.
  • Responsible for vacation and sick days validation and update. Update and calculate vacation liability.
  • Prepare and submit all required Record of Employment (ROE.)
  • Liaise with benefits provider and responsible for employees’ benefit update, accurate benefit deductions and record keeping
  • Work closely with managers and Human Resources to address all payroll related issues
  • Responsible for payroll year-end duties, i.e. T4, T4 summary, and other year-end forms.
  • Responsible for all payroll related tax remittances (i.e. tax withholdings, EHT and WSIB, etc. on a timely manner.
  • Responsible for payroll year-end audit & T4 summary reconciliations.
  • Responsible for Microsoft Dynamics NAV upgrades and attending seminar if necessary.
  • Responsible for Questica benefit rates configurations and update.
  • Provide union seniorities update for Pension plan.
  • Responsible for payroll payable accounts reconciliation.
  • Other ad hoc payroll analysis as required.
  • Qualifications:

  • College or University Degree in related Business Administration, Finance or related field
  • Certified Payroll Compliance Practitioners (PCP) and with good standing membership of Canadian Payroll Association
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a large payroll (400 employees) environment with unionized payroll experience
  • Minimum of 1 year payroll experience working with Microsoft Dynamics NAV payroll system.
  • Experience with payroll tax, EHT and WSIB remittances.
  • General accounting experience considered an asset.
  • Extremely organized with the ability to prioritize work to meet payroll deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office Suite (advanced in MS Excel).
  • Knowledge of payroll accounting and applicable government legislation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented and ability to work to tight timelines

    Starting Salary Range:

    $50,108 to $54,484 per annum + benefits
