Clinical Counsellor
COSTI REQUIRES A BILINGUAL CLINICAL COUNSELLOR FOR ITS FAMILY AND MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM

Duties:
Facilitates phone intake and conducts mental health psychosocial assessments.
Provides and crisis intervention.
Provides counselling to women and their dependents who have experienced abuse.
Provides short term Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioural Treatment.
Develops and implements a short term treatment plan.
Provides individual, couples, and family counselling to Spanish and English speaking individuals, couples and families experiencing personal, emotional or mental health problems.
Group facilitator for the “Here to Help” program.
Conduct off site clinical visits.
Facilitates an art based trauma group for teens.
Facilitates an adult art based trauma group for women who experienced relationship-based abuse.
Provides counselling to youth and children.
Enters statistical client data in COSTI’s client database and prepares quarterly report.
Facilitates group counselling with adults and children who have suffered a trauma.
Conducts psychosocial mental health assessment.
Develop and implement a treatment plan.
Contact partners of court mandated perpetrators of intimate partner abuse currently enrolled in COSTI’s Partner Assault Response program.
Conduct a domestic violence based risk assessment for women and their children.
Develop safety plans for women and their children.
Liaise with probation officers, Child protection Services and PAR facilitators.
Collate and disseminate information to victims.
Provide resources to enhance safety.
Makes referrals to appropriate health/mental health and social service agencies.
Liaises with other organizations and service providers. |
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent with one (1) year clinical counselling experience.
Experience in facilitating group counselling.
Sound culturally competent clinical skills.
Must be able to speak, read and write fluently in Spanish.
Excellent presentation skills.
Knowledge of mental health disorders, treatments and psycho social interventions.
Knowledge of Trauma theory and recovery.
Knowledge of intimate partner abuse and impact on safety and wellbeing of women and their dependents.
Sensitive to and aware of the social problems facing refugees and immigrants.
Must have access to a vehicle.
Experience in facilitating group counselling.
Knowledgeable of men’s violence against women programs and issues.
Knowledge of violence against women theory.
Knowledge of Trauma theory and recovery.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Sensitive to and aware of the social problems facing immigrants.
Must be able to work evenings. |

This is a full time Union contract position scheduled to work 28 hours per week**
