Coordinator

COSTI REQUIRES A COORDINATOR FOR THE
LANGUAGE TRAINING AT THE WORKPLACE PROGRAM (LTW) AT THE MARKHAM LANGUAGE & SKILLS TRAINING SERVICES CENTRE

Duties:

  • Ensures the program objectives, targets and deadlines are met.
  • Develops and implements the marketing plan.
  • Recruits employers and registers participants into the program.
  • Liaises with other COSTI services for identification and referral of employers in York Region.
  • Communicates with local boards of trades, professional associations and the business community for employer referrals.
  • Meets with employers to identify the language training needs of their employees.
  • Assists in the development of language training plans specific to employer needs.
  • Coordinates the language assessment of participants with the LTW assessor and provides language assessment as required.
  • Coordinates curriculum development with the LTW instructor/curriculum developer and provides input.
  • Facilitates on-going communication between the participating employers and the LTW team to ensure effective program delivery and address issues.
  • Conducts follow up evaluation with employers and/or employees.
  • Plans for and handles purchase orders required for the program. Monitors expenses according to approved budget.
  • Prepares and submits statistical and services reports.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations at conferences, workshops and other public events.
  • Researches and makes recommendations on other language and skills training programs for the workplace.
  • Conducts intake meeting with new Welcome Centre clients to identify their needs and make service referrals accordingly and input client data on Welcome Centre Database.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in business administration.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in program administration or project management.
  • Experience in marketing and working with the business sector.
  • Knowledge of adult education and language training programs in York Region.
  • TESL Certification will be a definite asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong co-ordination, organizational and administrative skills.
  • Proficiency in using Word, Excel, Power Point, Email and Internet.
  • Experience in research and evaluation.
  • Access to a car is required.
  • Location:

    8400 Woodbine Ave., Markham (Markham North Welcome Centre)

    Duration of Position:

    August 18, 2014 to February 18, 2015 (pending confirmation)

    Starting Salary Range:

    $25.09 to $27.01 per hour

    Notes:

    This program is designed to deliver custom made English as a Second Language training to employees at the workplace to meet their communication needs at work as identified by their employers within York Region. Variable working hours may be required to accommodate employer needs and/or for participating industry/public events for outreach. This is a non-Union contract position scheduled to work 25 hours per week. (Current incumbent on a leave). OPEN TO UNION MEMBERS ON A SECONDMENT BASES.
