Supply Early Childhood Educators

COSTI REQUIRES SUPPLY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS

Duties:

  • Plans, supervises and implements activities and programs to meet the needs of children who occasionally frequent the centre while their parents receive alternate services.
  • Provides guidance to the ECA in the program.
  • Prepares and maintains the program area (e.g. creative arts centre, cognitive area, dramatic play, large motor activities).
  • Ensures that program set up, delivery and documentation meet the National LINC Childminding Guidelines.
  • Plans and implements activities that encourage and promote the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of all children.
  • Communicates with the administrative staff to coordinate child registration.
  • Collects and verifies required documentation for child registration.
  • Provides brief orientation to parents and children at registration.
  • Keeps accurate attendance, records and maintains children files and prepares monthly childcare reports and statistics.
  • Purchases and prepares the children’s daily snacks and supplies; recommends the purchase of toys, equipment and other resource material needed in the childcare program.
  • Conducts fire drills and other health and safety procedures as required.
  • Maintains, cleans and disinfects children’s toys, furniture and shelving area. Ensures bedding is changed after use.

    Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood Education diploma or equivalent as deemed by the Association for Early Childhood Education, Ontario.
  • Valid standard first aid certificate.
  • Experience working with preschoolers/toddlers.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative, imaginative and anti-bias approach to programming.
  • Sensitive to and understanding of the needs of children and their parents who are new to Canada.
  • Excellent English skills and ability to communicate in another language is an asset.
  • Able to work as part of a team of childcare professionals.

    Starting Salary Range:

    		 $20.71 per hour

    		 This is a non-union, on-call position required to work variable hours based on the Centre needs.
