Employment Facilitator

COSTI REQUIRES AN EMPLOYMENT FACILITATOR FOR THE
NORTH YORK EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT PROJECT

Duties:

  • Conducts intake, assessment, life skills coaching and escorting to employer and volunteer employment opportunities.
  • Develops program marketing strategies and coordinates those activities with the General Manager.
  • Liaises with the Streets to Home Housing and Housing Help support team for progress of the participants.
  • Prepares schedules of workshops and presentations and assigns resources accordingly.
  • Develops curriculum and lesson plans and facilitates pre-employment and life skills group workshops including: Personality Dimensions, Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, Time Management, Adapting to Change, Banking, Budgeting and Credit Management, Nutrition and Fitness, Stress Management, Personal Health & Hygiene Management, Self-Esteem, Benefits of Employment, Criminal Records & Employment, Employment Standard Act, Job Maintenance, Communication Skills Disability & Employment etc.
  • Assists participants with the development of a personalized work plan and in their exploration of careers and goal setting for career development.
  • Coaches and assists participants in developing effective job search strategies and life skills management.
  • Provides guidance and refers participants to other services based on their individual goals and needs.
  • Obtains employment placement/volunteer opportunities for clients.
  • Connects job ready participants with local Employment Ontario/Employment Services.
  • Uses COSTI employer contacts and job fairs to support participants’ employment.
  • Provides monitoring and follow-up services on all clients participating in the program.
  • Assists in all aspects of job search to ensure employment and education/training targets achieved.
  • Compiles statistical reports monthly, quarterly and yearly as contracted.
  • Qualifications:

  • Community College diploma in Social Services or equivalent, preference will be given to those with Employment Counselling or related diploma.
  • Must be certified in Personality Dimensions.
  • Minimum nine (9) months pre-employment workshop facilitation, curriculum development and counselling experience.
  • Demonstrated work experience in developing curriculum and facilitating life skills workshops on any 6 of the following topics: Personality Dimensions, Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, Time Management, Adapting to Change, Banking, Budgeting and Credit Management, Nutrition and Fitness, Stress Management, Personal Health & Hygiene Management, and Self-Esteem.
  • Must have work experience with people facing additional barriers in any three of the following areas: Mental Health/Addictions, Disabilities, Living on the streets, Conflict with the Law.
  • Knowledge of homelessness and sensitive to the needs of people affected by homelessness.
  • Life skills Training Coach certificate a definite asset.
  • Knowledge of job creation programs, education and training programs.
  • Proficiency in using the Internet, Email and Microsoft Office Suite in a Windows environment.
  • Knowledge of employment and community services available in the City of Toronto considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the multicultural community with experience in marketing and community outreach.
  • Verbal and written fluency in English and the ability to speak any other language would be an asset.
  • Must have a Car as frequent travel is required within Toronto. Ability to perform various duties as needed.

    Starting Salary Range:

    $43,422 to $46,734 per annum + benefits

    Notes:

    The Employment Support project will support COSTI Street to Homes clients recently housed and receiving follow-up services. The project will focus on developing/enhancing client’s employability skills, life management skills, vocational readiness, applied work skills and work placement opportunities. This is a full-time Union position scheduled to work 35 hours per week*. *Hours of work shall be scheduled in accordance with Article 12.01and shall consist of five (5) seven (7) hour days, Monday to Friday. Priority consideration will be given to those on Notice of Recall.
