Spanish Speaking Clinical Counsellor

COSTI REQUIRES A SPANISH SPEAKING CLINICAL COUNSELLOR FOR ITS FAMILY AND MENTAL HEALTH CENTRE

Duties:

  • Provides individual, couples and family counselling to Spanish and English speaking individuals, couples and families experiencing personal, emotional or mental health problems.
  • Facilitates group counselling sessions.
  • Provides intake and crisis intervention.
  • Conducts psycho social mental health assessments.
  • Develop and implement a treatment plan.
  • Makes referrals to appropriate social service agencies.
  • Liaises with other organizations and service providers.

    Qualifications:

  • BSW or equivalent with one year clinical counselling experience.
  • Experience in facilitating group counselling.
  • Sound culturally competent clinical skills.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is essential.
  • Knowledge of men’s violence against women programs and issues.
  • Knowledge of violence against women theory.
  • Knowledge of mental health disorders, treatments and psycho social interventions.
  • Knowledge of Trauma theory and recovery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sensitive to and aware of the social problems facing immigrants.
  • Must be able to work evenings.

    Duration of Position:

    		 September 14, 2015 to April 30, 2016

    Starting Salary Range:

    		 $44,118 – $47,482 + benefits

    Notes:

    		 This position provides individual, couples and group counselling to the Spanish Canadian community of Metropolitan Toronto and York region. This is a non-union position scheduled to work 28 hours per week (Current incumbent is on a leave).
