GENERAL COUNSELLOR ASSISTANT

COSTI REQUIRES A GENERAL COUNSELLOR ASSISTANT FOR ITS NORTH YORK CENTRE

Duties:

  • Provides assessment of client needs and intake services, with a focus on privately sponsored, Armenian speaking Syrian refugees.
  • Provides orientation and information/referral to newcomers.
  • Organises group orientation sessions.
  • Provides outreach to the newcomer Armenian community; promotes the programs and services of the agency.
  • Provides interpretation and conducts follow-up activities.
  • Liaises with government, community groups, educational institutions and volunteers.
  • Keeps administrative records of services and activities, inputs data and prepares necessary reports.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Qualifications:

  • Social Services Diploma or equivalent with relevant practicum experience.
  • Experience in providing settlement services and in organising and facilitating groups is essential. Preferences will be given to those who have worked with the Armenian community.
  • Must be able to communicate in Armenian; other languages would be an asset.
  • Experience in conducting various methods of outreach.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the needs of newcomers.

    July 4, 2016 to December 31, 2016

    Starting Salary Range:

    $22.79 to $24.53 per hour

    This is a full-time non Union position scheduled to work 35 hours per week.
