Family Crisis Support Worker

COSTI REQUIRES A FAMILY CRISIS SUPPORT WORKER FOR ITS
CLIENT SUPPORT SERVICES (CSS) PROGRAM

Duties:

  • Deliver a client-centered service model to support both Government Assisted Refugees and Privately Sponsored Refugees in the first 12 to18 months upon arrival in Canada, with a focus on supporting men who are experiencing crisis.
  • Provide case management services through the use of assessments, information and referral, accompaniment, home visits, and follow-up and advocacy to assist clients to live independently and integrate successfully.
  • Provide individual and group support to male refugees and their families according to level of needs and language.
  • Provide information and referral to a wide array of community agencies, professional services, settlement and social services, etc. across the Greater Toronto Area..
  • Liaise and advocate with community agencies in order to bridge the services needs of male refugees.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of client cases according to regionally established standards for the CSS program.
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual service and statistical reports according to the program and funder requirements.
  • Assist with the monitoring and evaluation of the program on an on-going basis, recommending service delivery changes to supervisor and assisting with their implementation when necessary.
  • Qualifications:

  • Social Services worker diploma, or equivalent with relevant practicum experience. Preference given to candidates with an education in the area of family crisis/violence.
  • One (1) year experience providing case management services, specifically to men in crisis. Preference will be given to those with demonstrated experience in crisis de-escalation and resolution..
  • One (1) year experience working with refugees, victims of torture, violence, etc.
  • Knowledge of specific issues facing resettled refugees in general and the Resettlement Assistance Program.
  • Must be able to speak Arabic. Fluency in other languages will be considered an asset, ex. Amharic, Assyrian, French, Kurdish, Somali, etc.
  • Excellent communication, organization and coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of settlement, community and government services and resources for men, with an emphasis on the services and resources that exist within the Greater Toronto Area for families in crisis.
  • Knowledge of Internet, Email and Windows software e.g. Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated experience in data-entry, documentation and reporting.
  • Must be able to travel within the GTA to multiple locations using public transportation. Access to a vehicle is considered an asset.
  • Vulnerable Sector Screening is required.

    $24.33 to $26.19 per hour

    The Client Support Services (CSS) program provides intensive settlement case management services to government-assisted and privately sponsored refugees once they have arrived in the Greater Toronto Area in order to facilitate a healthy transition to life in Canada. The team provides holistic supports using a social determinants of health framework, intervening where necessary with families in crisis. This position providing interventions with male refugees who are experiencing crisis including but not limited to court appearances, domestic violence, immigration issues, complex medical and mental health including anger management, child protection, housing crises, etc.
