ESL Team Lead Toronto & Peel Apply Now

COSTI REQUIRES A TEAM LEAD FOR ITS LANGUAGE TRAINING FOR ASYLUM CLAIMANTS PROGRAM AT ITS PEEL LOCATION

This is a full-time contract position scheduled to work 35 hours per week, from April 1, 2024, to August 31, 2024. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.

Duties:

  • Provides overall leadership and guidance to the ESL team which includes ensuring program standards and procedures are met.
  • Coordinates all project activities for delivery, including assessments, referrals, language instruction, information sessions, guest speakers, and follow-up support.
  • Liaises with the CLARS assessment centres for client intake assessment and placement. 
  • Manages course waitlist on CLARS and registers clients into the program.
  • Supports new clients’ access to virtual meeting tools.
  • Creates, organizes, and maintains operational files online.
  • Ensures that lesson plans and modules are prepared.
  • Identifies, and where applicable, resolves programming concerns and issues.
  • Coordinates client feedback surveys and assists the manager in the evaluation of the program services.
  • Tabulates, compiles, verifies, and formulates statistical and narrative reports.
  • Collects and inputs client data into HARTs and CIS.
  • Markets program information to participants, newcomer serving organizations, and the community in general.
  • Organizes information sessions for participants and partnering agencies.
  • Liaises with community partners to provide information sessions, resources or other support if needed.

Qualifications:

  • Community college diploma or equivalent.
  • TESL Ontario certification is an asset.
  • PBLA trained or in-training an asset
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience coordinating a newcomer language or skills training program.
  • Experience in teaching ESL.
  • Experience in facilitating online and in-person information sessions and workshops.
  • Experience using virtual meeting tools such as MS Teams.
  • Experience in facilitating online training using Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exceptional multitasking skills.
  • Sensitivity to and awareness of settlement issues facing immigrants.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and good command of written and oral English. 
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Starting Salary Range:

$29.75 to $31.23 per hour
