Clinical Counsellor_Problem Gambling Apply Now

COSTI REQUIRES AN ITALIAN-SPEAKING CLINICAL COUNSELLOR FOR ITS PROBLEM GAMBLING PROGRAM

**This is a contract position scheduled to work 28 hours per week until March 31, 2027, **

INTERNAL ONLY

Duties:

  • Facilitates intake and conducts psychosocial assessments for individuals harmed by Gambling, Gaming or excessive technology use.
  • Provides crisis intervention.
  • Provides counselling to women and their dependents who have experienced abuse.
  • Provides counselling to individuals, couples and families harmed by gambling, technology use or gaming.  
  • Designs and delivers short-term treatment plans utilizing trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, harm reduction strategies, relapse prevention techniques, and abstinence-based approaches.
  • Provides individual, couples and family counselling to individuals, couples and families. experiencing personal, emotional or mental health problems.
  • Co-facilitates Partner Assault Response intervention group.
  • Conduct off-site clinical visits.
  • Makes referrals to appropriate health/mental health and social service agencies.
  • Liaises with other organizations and service providers.
  • Enters statistical client data in EMHware and COSTI’s CIS client database and prepares quarterly report.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent with one (1) year of clinical counselling experience.
  • Experience in facilitating group counselling.
  • Sound culturally competent clinical skills.
  • Ability to speak Italian fluently is a requirement.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of mental health disorders, treatments and psychosocial interventions.
  • Knowledge of Trauma theory and recovery.
  • Knowledge of intimate partner abuse and its impact on the safety and well-being of women and their dependents.
  • Knowledge of problem gambling, gaming disorders, problem technology use, and effective interventions to reduce harm.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sensitive to and aware of the social problems facing refugees and immigrants.
  • Must have access to a vehicle.

Starting Salary Range:

$ 70,031 to $73,422 per annum + Benefits
