English Communication for Beginners
The Newcomer Settlement and Language Training Program supports the social and economic integration of newcomers to Ontario. Program activities address settlement, language training and employment needs, ensuring that newcomers have the support, skills, and opportunities to participate in their local communities and the labour market.
COSTI’s English Communication (LINC) class is designed for newcomers at Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels 1 to 3 to practice their listening and speaking through practical conversation topics.
The training is based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks / Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (CLB/NCLC) framework. Instructors will assess learners’ progression using Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA).
This program is a Language Instruction for Newcomers (LINC) English class.

- Practical speaking activities
Who is Eligible
Services are available to permanent residents and convention refugees. Students must be 18 years of age or older.
Times
This program runs on Mondays and Wednesdays from, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
