English as a Second Language (ESL) Courses for Asylum Claimants
English as a Second Language (ESL) Courses for Asylum Claimants in Toronto and Peel Region are being offered by COSTI until August 31, 2024. The project includes the delivery of 30 courses in Peel and 27 courses in Toronto over three 9-week training cycles aimed at preparing asylum claimants for integration into the Canadian labour market and fostering their economic independence.
Services Available
The ESL Program for Asylum Claimants is designed as an integrated, specialized, employment-focused language training program. It aims to address clients’ immediate needs, like housing and tenant rights, workplace orientation, credential assessment and digital and financial literacy.
Additionally, the program includes access to Chromebook loans and transportation assistance.
The first training cohort will end on April 26. We are currently accepting clients for the second group, which will start on April 29, 2024.
