Youth Support Worker
COSTI REQUIRES A YOUTH SUPPORT WORKER FOR ITS
CLIENT SUPPORT SERVICES PROGRAM
Duties:
Deliver client-centered service model to support Government Assisted Refugee youth and their families between the ages 16 and 24 in the community through the first 12 to 18 months following their arrival in Canada.
Provide case management services through the use of assessments, information and referral, accompaniment, home and community visits for follow-up and advocacy to assist clients to live independently and integrate successfully.
Provide youth-centered, family and group support to clients according to level of needs and language.
Provide information and referral to a wide array of community agencies, professional services, settlement and social services, etc. across the Greater Toronto Area.
Organizes group activities for the youth such as: youth workshops, cultural celebrations, recreational activities, orientation/information sessions, etc.
Liaises with community agencies in the areas where GAR youth are living to bridge services to the needs of this population.
Support the delivery of Youth Councils, namely the CSS Regional and Local Youth Advisory Councils.
Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual service and statistical reports according to the program and funder requirements.
Monitor and evaluate the program on an on-going basis, recommending service delivery changes to supervisors and assisting with their implementation when necessary.

Qualifications:
Post-Secondary Diploma in Social Service Worker Diploma or equivalent with relevant practicum experience.
One (1) year of experience working with refugees, forced migrants, survivors of torture, persecution, war or abuse.
Two (2) years of experience providing services to youth.
Demonstrated knowledge of specific issues facing immigrants, refugees and the Resettlement Assistance Program.
Previous case management experience.
Knowledge of settlement, community and government services and resources, particularly as they pertain to youth.
Excellent communication, organization and coordination skills.
Flexibility in hours of availability to accommodate afterschool youth programming a must.
Ability to communicate in Arabic is required, fluency in additional languages may be considered an asset.
Must be able to travel within the GTA to multiple locations using public transportation.
Access to a car is not necessary but may be considered an asset.

This is a full-time union contract position, scheduled to work 35 hours per week*.(Current incumbent is on a Maternity leave).*Hours of work shall be scheduled in accordance with Article 12.01and shall consist of
five (5) seven (7) hours days, Monday to Friday.
Priority consideration will be given to those on Notice of Recall.
Subject to the response of those on Notice of Recall this position may be open to Union members on a secondment basis.
