Job Connect – Internationally Trained Individuals

COSTI’s Job Connect Program for Internationally Trained Individuals is designed to assist and support newcomers who are seeking employment in their profession or trade through a continuum of service options. Flexible services are based on individual client need and can range from sector-specific information sessions to terminology and communication training to job trials in the workplace. Additional supports such as credentials assessments, language assessments, business attire and transportation costs as well as employer-subsidized work placements are available as required to facilitate employment. The Job Connect ITI program is suitable for professionals and tradespeople seeking employment in both regulated and non-regulated professions or trades.

Services Available

  • Information on language and credentials assessment, licensing and occupational regulatory process aimed at exploring participants’ professions or trades.
  • Informative job search seminars on topics pertinent to internationally trained individuals.
  • Career counselling support and development of return to work action plan.
  • Career exploration through job trials, job shadowing and volunteer opportunities.
  • Subsidized on-the-job training or direct job placement into former or related profession.
  • Financial support i.e. language and credential assessment, accreditation, licensing process document translation, transportation, work attire, equipment, etc.
  • Continued support to ensure successful integration into the Canadian workforce.

    Staff at the Toronto and Scarborough locations speak Amharic, Arabic Bulgarian, Cantonese, Dari, Farsi, Italian, Mandarin, Oromo, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tigrinia, and Urdu.

    Staff at the Vaughan location speak Amharic, Filpino, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Italian, Oromo, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, and Urdu.

Who is Eligible

Services are available to unemployed Toronto and York Region residents who received their post secondary education outside of Canada and have been unable to access employment in their field in Canada.

Tuesday – Thursday: 8:30 am to 7:00 pm
